Happy New Year FIA Members!

2023 was a great year, but I think 2024 is going to be even better!  My little granddaughter turns two this month, which is exciting.  She is just a joy and I love every minute I spend with her!  January also marks my one-year anniversary with the FIA.  What a great group of people I am blessed to work with!

We have already begun discussions concerning the MarketPlace in November.  We will keep you posted on any changes.  Sponsorships will be available for MarketPlace.   We hope you will consider being a sponsor as you set your budget for 2024.

The AFA convention will be in Chattanooga, Tennessee from November 11 - 15, 2024.  Mark your calendars so you don't overbook that week!

Please don't hesitate to contact me at any time via email or call/text me at (502) 779-1522 if you need my assistance.

FIA Progress – President’s View

January 2024

Happy New Year!

Did you ring in 2024 singing a familiar song to AFA/FIA members? Auld Lang Syne means Old Long Since (literally) and is interpreted to mean since long ago or for old times’ sake. We ring in the new year with these words, but we also close each AFA Convention that way. This Scottish song is attributed to the national poet of Scotland, Robert Burns in 1788. The AFA tradition is attributed to Edward Martin FWCF and has been kept alive by Don Gustafson CJF of Woodside, CA. After the AFA awards banquet each year, singing Auld Lang Syne is the attendee’s way of saying “see you soon” or “until next time” instead of just “goodbye.”

How appropriate for a close-knit industry like ours to sing about our next gathering while ending the current one. If you haven’t witnessed this AFA tradition in person, please consider joining me in Chattanooga, November 11-15, 2024. The FIA Board of Directors is already planning the 2024 FIA MarketPlace and our next BOD meeting is January 17.

  • FIA Membership renewal packets are going out now.
  • Each FIA member renewal packet comes with a window cling for your business. Don’t forget that Rayzin Kane Business Solutions can stitch your business logo and the new FIA logo on your branded gear. Visit www.rayzinkane.com to order!
  • The 21st annual International Hoof-Care Summit is January 23-26 in Cincinnati, OH. The American Farriers Journal team packs a lot into this week of educational lectures and demos. The Trade Show is excellent and I look forward to seeing you there!
